General Meeting Minutes – May 4, 2007

Proceedings:   Meeting called to order at 8:05pm by CJ. Kolasinski.

SIM Question:

  • There are currently three freefall speeds and their discipline listed in the SIM.  What
    do these freefall speeds apply to? 
    ANSWER:  RW/Belly - 120MPH; Sit/Headdown - 160 MPH; Wingsuit – 50MPH. 
    WINNER: Dave Correia.

Motion:  Approve minutes from last meeting on April 6.

Treasurers Report – Read by Charles Markin

Note:  Seattle Skydiver dues are due next month.

Old Business

  • Saturday Clinics – nothing was originally schedule for Saturday, but Charlie has stepped up and is doing “Accuracy” tomorrow. 
    1. Schedule:
      1. May 12 – “Obstacles” by CJ
      2. May 20 – “Spotting” by
      3. May 26 – Nothing scheduled due to Memorial Day.
      4. June 9th – Photography by Bill Kelly
      5. June 16th – Tracking by (guy I can’t remember his name)
      6. June 23rd - Relative Work by Deb and Dave Correia
      7. June 30th – Hybrid by (guy I can’t remember his name).
    2. We need a volunteer for a June 2 clinic.
  • May 19 – Al Zilk meet
    1. C License required
    2. 8:30 – 9:30 - setup
    3. Jumping start at 10:00am.
    4. Food will be Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Beans, Potato Salad, etc.  
    5. Operations will be shut down at airport.
      1. Landing area will be west of the runway to allow a landing area for Tandems on that day.
    6. May 20 Rain Day (if it rains on May 19).

New Business

  • Wingsuits – we can get wingsuits shipped to the DZ for use. This will be sometime in June. Can Seattle Skydivers pick up the cost of shipping the suits out here.  This will be approximately $100.  Question: If club picks up cost, should suit use be limited to club members.

      2. CJ will let Jim know that Seattle Skydivers will cover shipping for Wingsuits.
  • Make a Wish Foundation – Discussed having club use funds to donate a skydive to Make a Wish Foundation.  Make A Wish then sells the Tandem jump to somebody who will take the Skydive.  Prices are:
    1. Skydive Snohomish
      1. 10k Tandem is $210
      2. 13k Skydive is $235. 
    2. Skydive Kapowsin
      1. There are several different packages for a tandem jump.  Packages range from $165 to $295.
    3. Video option discussed.  Price difference between Kapowsin and Snohomish for video can be up to $100.
    4. Can a club member donate video services?.
    5. Motion: Seattle Skydivers to donate $215 to Make a Wish Foundation.

  • Jump for the Cause – August 17 thru August 20.  This is happening at Kapowsin.
    1. Jump for the Cause needs venders, sponsors and donations.
    2. Roger Ponce will be doing camp.  There will be a thirty-five way.  There will be a seventy way attempt.  The current record in the Northwest is a sixty-nine way.

Announcement and Safety Topics

  • Landing patterns – fatality in Georgia.  There is a strong emphasis on landing patterns. 
  • Membership Dues – due on June 1.  Dues are $40.
  • Dave Correia discussed Kapowsin facility.  A group of skydivers went to Kapowsin on the weekend of April 28 and 29.  Kapowsin has a different airplane.  This will offer a different setting for jumping.
