Carrie called the meeting to order and distributed a calendar for the remainder of the year, with meeting dates and other club events. The upcoming events were reviewed and discussed.
The next general membership meeting is on April 5th and will be held after sunset at Skydive Snohomish. Carrie to follow up with Tyson to confirm. The meeting will be followed by a slide show of photos form Escape to Elsinore , using the projector loaned to the club by Heather Skoda. There will also be a raffle. Every member who attends the meeting will receive 1 free ticket. Additional tickets will be $2 each. Non-members may purchase tickets for $5 each.
The club event for the month will be “No Show Jumps” at Skydive Snohomish on April 5th. Dave Huber will organize the event and work with April to create a flier.
The Al Zilk Accuracy Meet at Skydive Snohomish is scheduled for May 3-4. This is not a club event; however, the club traditionally provides lunch and volunteers for various activities. In addition, Charlie Markin has provided lodging accommodations for out of town participants for several years; however, he will be out of town himself this year and therefore unable to do so. CJ is the point of contact for this event and she will follow up with Tyson concerning details for this event, including accommodations for out of town participants.
Carrie updated the club regarding club events at Skydive Snohomish. Tyson Harvey has offered to give SSD members a $3 per jump discount at club events, but only if the club holds all club events exclusively at Skydive Snohomish from June to September. There was an open forum discussion concerning this. It was agreed that the purpose of the club is to promote safety and the sport of skydiving in the Seattle area and should not be limited to Snohomish. It was also agreed that the benefit of a discount does not outweigh the benefit of traveling to and hosting club events at other local drop zones.
