Unfinished Business

  • By-Laws: A committee is needed to update the by-laws. Deb, Cindy & Elaine volunteered. We will ask for additional help at the Jan 7th membership meeting.
  • Membership flyer: The flyer is ready and approved. We will give Tyson a "master" for photocopying along with a ream of paper to offset the cost of including it in the student package he gives out.
  • Food Drive: Food was donated but now we need to find someone to take it to the food bank. We will ask for volunteers at Friday's meeting.
  • Free Membership for BoD members: After a discussion we had a unanimous decision to not give a free membership to the BoD members.
  • Pullup Cords: We still need to contact Roger Nye and see how many he will do for us. We decided to have our web site address put on the cords.

New Business

  • Committees for the new year:
    • Newsletter: Deb
    • Events: Elaine
    • Membership: Cindy
    • Bulletin board: Dave
    • Safety: Charlie
  • Event suggestions for this year:
    • Safety Day (3/12): Charlie will chair, do pizza for lunch again
    • Green Meet: when?
    • Al Zilk (5/7 with 5/8 as weather day): do BBQ and pancake breakfast again. East field also?
    • Hit & Rock: in June? East field also?
    • Ben Boogie: charge registration fee? Should the club take this on?
    • NSL meet or two
    • Gonna Be: maybe more than one
    • 6-way scrambles
    • Bring in a name for summer: (John Hamilton may be here in August?)
    • Fundraisers (pancake feed, etc): Elaine suggested the club can use the DZs "Dive Dollars" as a fund raiser. We add the club name to the back of the card and distribute them at other community events. When they are redeemed the club gets a small donation ($10?) from the DZ.
    • 10-way speed meet
    • Rodeo Dives
    • Seminars
  • Club Projects:
    • New mock up. The old one was secured against tipping over but still is falling apart.
    • Board games and other rainy day activities for the DZ. Elaine will look into what is in the "blue box" and see if we can use that as our game box.
  • Permanent address for the club: Elaine will ask Tyson if we can use the DZ address. Currently we have no address.
  • SIS part of SSD: After a discussion it was decided that SIS would not become part of SSD, although we will continue to make announcements for SIS and offer support.
  • Community discounts: Elaine suggested that community business be contacted and ask if they will offer some kind of discount to club members (restaurant meal discounts, espresso drink discounts, etc). The business' names and the discount would be printed on the back of our cards. Good advertising for them and another benefit for club members. Elaine will start contacting local businesses.

Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Cindy Kew
