April volunteered to take on the SIM question starting next month.

Jump Raffle: Gui won. (Charlie won first and asked that another name be drawn)

Unfinished Business

  • Pullup Cords: We still need to contact Roger Nye and see how many he will do for us. We decided to have our web site address put on the cords. Bryan suggested we contact Shannon Walker and compare prices.
  • Food Drive: Vic volunteered to deliver the donated food to the food bank.
  • 50th party: Bryan wants to chair the committee and plan various events for May-July. Suggestions were: Rounds (Charlie will be available to pack them in May), can we find a Champ plane to jump out of (it was the first jump plane in Snohomish), jump gear that spans the history of skydiving, raffle off 50 jumps. Bryan will do an emailing about it and post on the web site and the bulletin board. Other ideas are encouraged.

New Business

  • By-Laws: We need additional volunteers to help update the bylaws. Gui and April volunteered to help Deb, Cindy and Elaine. Copies will be emailed to the committee members and the goal is to have them read for club approval in Feburary.
  • Event suggestions for this year:
    • Safety Day (3/12): Charlie will chair, do pizza for lunch again. Will T-shirts be done again?
    • Green Meet: Combine with 50th party.
    • Al Zilk (5/7 with 5/8 as weather day): do BBQ and pancake breakfast again. East field also?
    • Hit & Rock: in June? East field also?
    • Ben Boogie: The club seems to want to take this on, or do some kind of boogie. Elaine is the events chair so it will be submitted to her. Gui and Cindy volunteered to help.
    • NSL meet or two
    • Gonna Be: maybe more than one
    • 6-way scrambles
    • Bring in a name for summer: (John Hamilton may be here in August?)
    • Fundraisers (pancake feed, etc): Elaine suggested the club can use the DZs "Dive Dollars" as a fund raiser. We add the club name to the back of the card and distribute them at other community events. When they are redeemed the club gets a small donation ($10?) from the DZ. Do pancake breakfast and put out notices at the soccer fields this time!
    • 10-way speed meet
    • Rodeo Dives
    • Seminars
    • There were not enough members present to assign chairs or set dates for events this month.
  • April asked for a safety briefing refresher for students. Charlie suggested a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for topics that folks are interested in. Students should not hesitate to ask for additional briefings from Instructors and Coaches on any subject.
  • Club Projects:
    • New mock up. The old one was secured against tipping over but still is falling apart.
    • Board games and other rainy day activities for the DZ. Elaine will look into what is in the "blue box" and see if we can use that as our game box.
    • Club room? Maybe its time to approach Tyson. Charlie reported that the club put in $772.68 toward DZ improvements and BBQs.
  • Community discounts: Elaine suggested that community businesses be contacted and ask if they will offer some kind of discount to club members (restaurant meal discounts, espresso drink discounts, etc). The business' names and the discount would be printed on the back of our cards. Good advertising and more business for them and another benefit for club members. Elaine will start contacting local businesses.

Announcements

  • Deb and all of us thanked Bryan for his work on the web site. It's great Bryan! Bryan is requesting photos to post in the gallery. Vic received another packet of photos and such from Lyle. They need to be scanned in and added to the history section. Bryan, Dave, and Gui have access to a scanner.
