Unfinished Business
- Staff Appreciation Day: The date has tentatively been set for July 15th. Based on the surveys at the beginning of the year, 70% of the membership was interested in this event, however, at this time, there is only one volunteer. If we do not have more volunteers, this event most likely will be cancelled. Guillaume Bock volunteered. April Eft will be meeting with the volunteers and then with Tyson Harvey.
- ABCD jumps: Deb Correia will be meeting with Tyson Harvey. Deb thinks the costs will be minimal. This event will most likely be late July or August. The date and total costs are to be determined soon.
- Mentoring Program: Deb and Dave Correia our on the calendar at Skydive Snohomish for June 3-4. The program is open, active, and ready to go. There has been some interest shown but no mentor volunteers have contacted Dave. The mentoring program may travel to other drop zones, in addition to Skydive Snohomish. If interested in mentoring or being mentored, email Dave Correia at dave@seattleskydivers.org. More information is in the May 2006 newsletter.
- Specialty Aircraft Day: Todd Davis is working on getting a helicopter. The date and costs are still to be determined. Todd is hoping there will be no associated club costs for this event.
- Guano Freefly, June 30 - July 2: Online registration is available. Be sure to preregister if you would like to participate. Karen Alexander will be sending out an email regarding this event. Please forward it to other skydivers in the area and spread the word! The success of this event financially will influence subsequent freefly events. Bill Kelley is organizing a BBQ for Saturday night. There will be a small charge for the BBQ so no costs to the club. Skydive Snohomish is paying for one of the airline tickets and will be giving staff rates to the Guano brothers. Debriefing with instructional video will be done on a large screen TV. They arrive on Thursday and Karen is planning a potluck for Friday to welcome them. If you would like to help with the potluck (Friday) and/or the BBQ (Saturday), contact Karen.
New Business
- Club membership annual dues: If you pay by June 30th, it is $35. It goes up to $40 if after June 30th. You may pay online for a nominal fee or you may place your payment in the SSD locked box at Skydive Snohomish (or give to a board member).
- Annual end of the year party: It's not too early to start planning. Surveys from last year's party need to be reviewed so that we can research our options to make this year's party even better. The success of the party depends on volunteers. Please contact April Eft at april@seattleskydivers.org if you would like to be a volunteer on the committee.
Announcements
- Krisanne Combs is asking for contributions for the newsletter, including articles, photos, etc. You can submit items to her at newsletter@seattleskydivers.org.
- Dave Correia announced that Skdive Toledo is getting an Otter.
- New members:
- Chris Homaeir is our newest member. He is new to the area and skydiving with 50 jumps.
- Keith Ragusa has submitted his application but has not paid dues yet.
Safety
- Dave Correia gave the reminder that when you throw out, really mean it! He experienced a pilot chute in tow because he lazily threw out!
- Danielle Bollwein gave the reminder that now that the Caravan is here, we need to be more aware that this means even more canopies in the sky. Be aware!
- There is a great article on dropzone.com regarding exit order, safe separation, etc.
Adjournment: April Eft made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m. The motion was seconded by Rob Braeutigam. Motion was carried.
