Board Meeting Minutes – January 2, 2007

Proceedings:   Meeting called to order at 7:00pm by CJ Kolasinski.

Old Business: 

  • None

New Business: 

  • Board Meeting location and time set for next two months.
    • Board Meetings set for January 23 and February xx. 
      • Location for meeting was discussed.  It was decided that both meetings will be at Top Foods in Woodinville at 7:00pm
    • General membership meeting at Todo Mexico in Snohomish on Friday, January 5 at 7:00pm.

  • Club refrigerator at Skydive Snohomish needs to be emptied (refrigerator disposal options also addressed).

  • Discussed prior year’s activities (2 BBQ’s during the summer and Pizza Day).
    • Holiday Party – came out to $468.68 with some revenue from Seattle Skydiver family members.  Banquet hall was rented out by Skydive Snohomish at no charge for facility.  Trophies were purchased for $130.32

  • Membership drive idea’s discussed to help with attrition of membership.
    • Concerns were what is the value for a skydiver to become a Seattle Skydiver member.
      • How can we build value in the Seattle Skydiver club?
        • Jump discounts
        • Other discounts
        • Activities performed as a club on non skydive days
      • Raffle for free jump day to promote monthly club meeting attendance.  Is the cost involved to the club offset by the increased attendance/membership?
    • New Skydiver Mentor program – idea to get new skydivers acclimated with Seattle Skydivers early in training.  Reduced membership fee during student status and remainder of membership paid upon licensing.  New Skydiver will be matched with a seasoned skydiver to mentor throughout the training program.

  • Project Idea’s were discussed for the upcoming year.
    • Club History – with the aging club membership, it was agreed upon that the club should gather information about earlier members of the club and how to preserve their memory.
    • Drop Zone activities – idea’s to help out around the Skydive Snohomish and Mt. Vernon drop zones.

  • Club Events for 2007
    • Safety Day – Safety Day 2007 was discussed briefly and tentatively set for the 2nd weekend in March
    • Lake Elsinore Trip briefly discussed – to take place the weekend of March 24 and 25.

  • Seattle Skydiver’s T-Shirts at Skydive Snohomish need inventory.  The organization is out of particular sizes.  CJ indicated she could do this after one of her work days at Skydive Snohomish.

Treasurer’s Report: 

  • Club bank account needs an additional signer.  It was suggested that Ryan Shipley be added as a signer.  Currently Deb Correia, Tom Phillips and Brian Jones are on the account.  Bank account is at Bank of America, Snohomish branch.

    • Checking – $3555.29
    • Savings - $716.96
    • CD
      • $10327.94 @ 4% coming due on 9/30/07
      • $4069.58 @ 5% coming due on 7/26/07
    • Petty Cash - $6.00

  • “Make A Wish” foundation certificate redeemed.  There was some confusion as to whether the club owed for one certificate or two certificates.  It was determined that one certificate was redeemed.
